In the villages around Sidemen, you will find home workshops for weaving; it is here that the complex 'endek fabrics and above all the sumptuous 'songket' silk with gold threads are elaborated. Please have a look at our excursion to Sidemen.
The road necessarily passes by Klungkung capital of a kingdom totally destroyed by the Dutch invader, at the beginning of the 20th century. A splendid Pavilion of Justice surrounded by water is all that survives of the magnificent palace. The pavillion’s inside roof is painted with frescos illustrating the suffering inflicted on those condemned for adultery, fornication and corruption.
